It’s been about six weeks since the last FIR Risk Tuesday. There’s no drama behind the gap — just a decision, and we’d rather be straight with you about it.

Two things shaped the timing.

The first was the calendar. We build our mid-year flagship around the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, and for good reason. Nineteen editions in, it remains the longest-running and most-cited breach dataset in the industry, and it was the last major report to land in the first half of 2026 — arriving, as it does each year, in early May. Building this edition around a report that didn’t yet exist would have meant filler or guesswork. We don’t publish either. So we waited for the source worth building on.
